California 7-Eleven Stores, Employees Get Involved in the Community

7-Eleven Franchisees and field teams in California's Southwest Division are no strangers to lending a helping hand, especially when it comes to supporting the community.

Tustin, Calif., residents sample free food outside Store #17839 during the crime prevention essay contest celebration.

Tustin, Market : Franchisees Sunny and Jyoti Dhami of Store #17839 in Tustin, Calif., were looking for an opportunity to get more involved in their community. Last month, they had their chance by participating in local Estock Elementary School's crime prevention essay contest.

During a special essay contest celebration, the Franchisees gave away 1,000 Slurpee® drink coupons to students and another 1,000 to the local Tustin Police Department. The store also gave away free Big Bite® hot dogs, Slurpee drinks, donuts and cookies throughout the day to customers. All essays were posted on the interior walls of the 7-Eleven store.

San Diego, Markets : Two 7-Eleven Southwest Division field teams recently gave back to their area food bank. Field Consultant Angelica Vargas recommended the food bank as a volunteer project based on her previous experience volunteering at the non-profit.

The 7-Eleven team helped out by stocking food, packing groceries, sorting coupons and painting walls. "Food bank employees and visitors expressed a new-found respect for 7-Eleven and we should all be proud," Vargas said. The San Diego team plans to continue supporting a variety of community organizations each month.

"These are great examples of 7-Eleven stores and employees connecting with their communities to support our strategic initiative to foster community relations," said Nancy Lear, Community Relations Manager for 7-Eleven.
