7-Eleven customers made fast tracks to Franchisee Jolly Kumar's store on Thursday, April 16. That's when Indy racer and driver of 7-Eleven stores' No. 11 racecar Tony Kanaan stopped by the store to sign autographs and greet race fans who were there to attend the Long Beach/Toyota Grand Prix race on Sunday, April 19.

"Jolly's store is located in the heart of Long Beach, near all the racing festivities," said Jeff Strader, Market Manager 2174 in Orange County. "Jolly began planning weeks in advance to prepare for the big event at his store. It was a real team effort among Jolly's store staff, the market's Field Consultants and the division merchandising team to pull this together into one very fun event."
In addition to meeting Tony, customers sampled an assortment of fresh sandwiches, donuts and cookies at the store. Strader said Jolly gave away prizes including a bicycle and race tickets.
"Jolly made flyers and passed them out to his customers a few days early to gain exposure," said Strader. "On the day of the event, he hung large banners outside welcoming Tony to the store. It was a fun day for everyone. Customers not only came in to see Tony, they also bought lots of drinks, food and other items. Store sales were up 9 percent over the three days compared to last year."
Tony, who led the first 10 laps of the Long Beach/Toyota Grand Prix race, finished third for the day.
