7-Eleven® Community Involvement - A Family Affair

Giving back to the community has become a family affair for 7-Eleven Franchisees Howard and Helen Kang and their son, Franchisee Danny Kang. This year, Danny joins his parents in providing 7-Eleven food and beverages to an annual neighborhood block party his parents have sponsored for 22 years.

Danny's 7-Eleven Store in Lake View Terrace, Calif., jumped at the opportunity to participate in the neighborhood council's annual event held Saturday, Aug. 22. "The event was great exposure for 7-Eleven's products, and we look forward to hosting it again and again," Danny said.

The Kang family worked with Field Consultant Derrick Washington and Fresh Foods Manager Daniel Cisneros to donate more than 250 7-SelectTM packaged bakery items and other proprietary food and beverages for the event. Danny enlisted the help of his store's associates to serve attendees, which included several hundred residents, Los Angeles city officials, policemen and fire personnel.

"The store is truly a central part of the neighborhood," said Washington. "It is one of the few retailers in the area, and the community looks to them for support of this event."
