Team 7-Eleven Extends its Top-Ranking Streak After Texas Race

Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan of Andretti Green Racing (AGR) cruised into the top 10 at the Texas Motor Speedway last weekend. Joined by fellow AGR drivers Danica Patrick, Marco Andretti and Hideki Mutoh, the team competed in the sixth race of the 2009 IndyCar® Series during the Bombardier Learjet 500k weekend June 4-7.

Kanaan ended his string of misfortune during this season by placing eighth after starting the race in the 16th position in the 24-car field. He drove into the top-10 almost instantly and remained there for the duration of the race. The finish places Kanaan seventh in the IndyCar Series point standing. "It has been the most difficult past three weeks for Team 7-Eleven, but we hung in there and kept our heads up," Kanaan said.

Leading the AGR pack, driver Marco Andretti celebrated a fourth-place finish over the final 30 laps. This was Andretti's best performance of the season and his fourth top-10 finish in the last five races. Driver Danica Patrick continues to enjoy the most consistent and competitive season of her IndyCar Series career. Finishing sixth over the weekend, Patrick remains fifth in the championship standings.
Not as lucky, driver Hideki Mutoh was sidelined approximately two-thirds of the way into the event due to electrical problems with his IndyCar. "I think we had a strong car and would have been competitive if we were able to finish the race," Mutoh said.

The drivers have one week off before competing in the Firestone Indy Lights at the Iowa Speedway June 20 and 21.
Why not be a part of Team 7-ELeven!
